Rumi Scientific

Rumi Scientific's mission is to fast-track the early stage of drug discovery using our predictive models of the human brain for therapeutic success. Many neurodevelopmental diseases do not have treatments due to a lack of a-priori knowledge of the underlying biology. Rumi Scientific's technology is able to model these diseases to help enable the discovery of new targets and drugs, de-risking the current failure-prone cumbersome approach.

Careers

Join our Team

Rumi Scientific is a spin-off from the labs of Ali Brivanlou and Eric Siggia at Rockefeller University, benefiting from more than a decade of cutting-edge basic research at the interface between human stem cell biology and physics. We are a research-driven company focused on the discovery of drugs and innovative treatments for human genetic diseases. We have created an exciting human organoid-based platform (see Haremaki et al., 2019, Nature Biotechnology for a recent example) that can be used for agnostic drug discovery and uniquely can be translated at the level of high-throughput screening. We have therefore unlocked the full potential of human organoids technology for the discovery of tomorrow’s therapeutics.

Our pipeline harnesses the power of embryonic stem cells to model human development in vitro and combines accurate genetic models of human diseases introduced by gene editing together with multi-cellular self-organization to create defined pathological embryonic tissues that serve as a basis for drug screening analyzed though modern AI tools. We are developing therapies for Huntington’s Disease, for monogenic neurodevelopment disorders and genetic forms of chronic kidney disease.

We are seeking highly-motivated team members at the level of both Research Assistants and senior Scientists to join our growing team. The successful candidates will contribute to the drug discovery effort as well as the development of novel therapeutics across several areas based on a strong interdisciplinary background, as our interests range from genome editing, physical methods for tissue confinement, to machine learning approach for the analysis of high content phenotypic screens. The ideal candidates are self-motivated with a dynamic personality. You will be working closely with the company CSO and Head of the Biology to expand our portfolio of diseases and develop new screening platforms for drug discovery and run our proprietary assays.

The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in the biological sciences, which includes tissue culture, molecular biology and microscopy. The applicant will  be able to quickly adapt to the challenge of working with cutting-edge biotechnology, and to master independence. The company is based at Industry City, Brooklyn, NY, in a dynamic environment focused on the future of science and technology.
