Dr. Lorenz Studer is the Director of the Center for Stem Cell Biology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Studer investigates human stem cells as tools to understand normal and pathological development in the nervous system and to develop cell-based strategies for regenerative medicine. He is responsible for many of the currently available techniques for turning human pluripotent stem cells into the diverse cell types of the nervous system, and his work has been recognized through a variety of awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship, the Ogawa-Yamanaka Prize and the Jacob Heskel Gabbay Award in Biotechnology and Medicine.
